Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme
The Bihar government is in the news for coming up with an ingenious scheme to get more students to enroll in graduate or equivalent-level courses across the state. To do this, the Nitish Kumar-led administration has come up with a novel Student Credit Card scheme, which will help students receive the much-needed education.
In an official communique, the government has stated that the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for higher studies stands at 14.3% in the state as compared to 24% in the rest of the country. And, to get more and more Standard 12 passouts to choose higher education, the government has decided to offer a credit card, which will not only fund their education, but also take care of their other key expenses while their studies are underway.
